We live in a constant change, it is a reality. The technology, the way of consuming and even the way of living, is evolving day by day. As different professionals defend, we are already immersed in the fourth industrial revolution. And one of the consequences is that during the next few years, new jobs will be created. New jobs that did not exist until then, specially in logistics sector.
Without a doubt, one of the sectors that is undergoing a major transformation nowadays is the logistics sector. At present, technology and automation are already being incorporated. However, improving productivity and maximizing the efficiency of each of the processes will be key to continue the activity.
We do not want to leave aside the opportunity to explain the different technologies that are being incorporated into the different processes of the supply chain and that have a direct impact on the logistics sector.
The e-commerce boom
As we discussed earlier in our blog, online stores are one of the biggest drivers of logistics. Nowadays, anyone has access to an infinite number of products at a distance of a click. Precisely this facility and immediacy causes great challenges in the logistics process. One of the keys that makes it a success factor, is to manage orders to make a delivery to the user in record time.
In addition to the above, it appears a new concept called «e-logistics» or what is the same, specialized logistics in e-commerce (or online stores).
Big Data and data analysis
One of the most fashionable concepts at present is the big data. You should know that this term refers to the massive data processing. In the logistics sector, it allows us to know even better the users, knowing what their preferences and tastes are. Not in vain, the customer is currently the cornerstone of consumption. It controls the type of products that are manufactured and in turn becoming much more demanding. Knowing this better consumer makes it possible to adapt both the delivery and the distribution of the goods to their needs and expectations.
IoT or the internet of things in logistics sector
We can not fail to mention that these new technologies are also having an influence on professionals working in the sector, with two main changes:
- The professionals are having to adapt to this evolution by reconverting and expanding their professional competences.
- New technological and innovation profiles traditionally associated with other sectors are increasingly demanded.
It is more than evident that technology has totally transformed the sector. And the truth is that it will continue to do so over the coming years. Without any doubt, all these advances have allowed the logistics sector to be much more transparent, agile, efficient, interconnected and secure today.
Not in vain the logistics sector is important to the economy of any country needing to move forward and evolve as fast as it does society itself, offering all possible improvements with respect to the user experience.
